This is a large antique French gilt frame with a contemporary mirror replacement. The gilt frame has plenty of decoration, making this mirror visually interesting, but the soft gold tone of the gilt keeps it quite understated. An examination of the back shows that the mirror has been replaced more recently and quarter-round trim has been added to the back of the frame to hold the newer mirror in place.
